Fuel Cell Systems supports Hungerford Electric Vehicle Show
On Saturday 3rd July the Hungerford Electric Vehicle Show (organised by Hungerford Environmental Action Team) took place on the Croft Field.
The event saw car manufacturers showing off their new vehicles alongside existing local electric vehicle (EV) owners. The aim of the show was that those attending could find out what EVs are available on the market, while also talking to owners about their real life experiences of using and running an electric vehicle.
Manufacturers included Mini, Volvo, Mercedes, Audi, Tesla, Honda, Renault, Citroen, Nissan, and Jaguar among others.
Not only were electric cars on show, but also electric bicycles, motorcycles, and vans. The event was opened by the Mayor of Hungerford, and sparked a lot of interest with hundreds of curious visitors in attendance throughout the day.
Fuel Cell Systems supported the community lead event by bringing our company car, a Toyota Mirai fuel cell electric vehicle. For most people visiting the show, seeing the Mirai was their first encounter with a fuel cell of any kind. All manner of questions were asked, from ‘What is a hydrogen car doing at an electric vehicle show?’ through to ‘Does a fuel cell obey the 2nd law of thermodynamics?’, but the for the most part, people were interested to learn about the car’s range, the refuelling process, and hydrogen safety.
As well as being an enjoyable day, Fuel Cell Systems was happy to be a part of an event which will help to inform local people about their next car purchase in the coming years as we move away from diesel and petrol vehicles.
