FCSL Welcomes Key Role in Hyer Power Hydrogen Refuelling Project

Fuel Cell Systems is proud to be playing a crucial role in the Hyer Power project, supporting the development of hydrogen fuel-cell-powered emergency and heavy-duty vehicles. With a new £825,500 contract awarded by Oxfordshire County Council, we will provide the essential hydrogen refuelling infrastructure required for this ground-breaking initiative.

As specialists in the design and manufacture of hydrogen refuelling solutions, our team in Hungerford will oversee the installation of refuelling facilities that will not only serve the project’s hydrogen-powered fire engine, ambulance, and highways vehicle, but also support the wider decarbonisation of heavy-duty transport.

FCSL will provide green hydrogen production with our HyPro electrolyser system and hydrogen dispensing with our tried and tested HyQube refueller.  The HyQube has been utilised across the UK in hydrogen vehicle trials by companies including Toyota, South Wales Bus, ZeroAvia and Bristol Airport.

The £8 million project, led by ULEMCo, is funded through Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) and Innovate UK (IUK), demonstrating the UK’s commitment to low-carbon transport innovation. With Oxfordshire County Council managing the infrastructure implementation, this project will help pave the way for a cleaner, more sustainable future for emergency services and beyond.

Dr Lee Juby, CEO at FCSL commented “Our hydrogen refuelling products have been  operating successfully in real world applications since 2017. We are excited to contribute our expertise to this project alongside Oxfordshire County Council and ULEMCo to accelerate the transition towards zero-emission transport.”
